Welcome to Jump Start Agility

Welcome to Jump Start Agility Welcome to Jump Start Agility

My name is Lyn Morgan and Jump Start Agility is my new agility training group.

I live with my family in Southampton & own 4 rescue dogs.  I have enjoyed training & competing in agility for nearly 10 years and consider myself a true agility enthusiast.

My professional career has previously involved work with young children & families, which included teaching parenting classes & child behaviour management workshops..  My training & experience has taught me that the same learning strategies apply when teaching any new behaviour using the scientific laws of Positive Reinforcement - whether you are working with children, adults or dogs!

Over the years, I have gained a wealth of knowledge & practical experience through training & competing in obedience & agility with my own dogs - each one has presented me with new behaviours & challenges to overcome.

As my love for dog agility training has continued to grow, I have been keen to learn more about the styles and methods used by top agility competitors around the world.  I am constantly adapting my own training to incorporate many of the latest approaches and handling techniques in use today.  This knowledge has helped me to develop my own structured training programme, with a strong emphasis on relationship building & foundation flatwork skills.

In 2016 I decided to change my career path & develop my teaching skills further by starting my own agility training group - Jump Start Agility.  I look forward to sharing my knowledge & experience with those who wish to join my group & have fun training agility with their dogs.

Jump Start Agility arose out of a need to find a venue for training my own dogs, coupled with a desire to share my experience & enthusiasm for agility training with others, especially those starting out with their dogs for the first time.

Jump Start Agility is a fully inclusive training group - classes are available to suit handlers of all ages and abilities.  All breeds of dog are welcome..

We aim to promote safe agility practice, using only positive, reward-based training methods, with an emphasis on FUN & ENJOYMENT for both you & your dog.

My Agility Training Personal Development :

Jazz won the FAB Newbie Jumping Final in 2015Jazz won the FAB Newbie Jumping Final in 2015Currently studying the Kennel Club accredited Agility 1st Instructor training course and hope to gain full qualification status shortly.

Alumni student membership of Handling 360 & Agility Nation on-line training course (joined in early 2014).

I have worked through Susan Garrett's entire training programme with my own dogs (including Recallers & Puppy Peaks courses) and acquired a thorough understanding of how to use games & positive training methods to motivate & teach agility skills layer by layer to achieve the confidence & capability required for success.

Membership of Absolute Dog's Training Academy,  Relationship Building Deep Dive & NBN (Naughty But Nice) behaviour training programmes.  I have received great training advice on behaviour theory & applied teaching methods plus a wealth of ideas for fun training games to play.

Student membership of One Mind Dog's on-line training programme for over 2yrs. This course has been great for developing my course analysis skills and the methodology to teach the many variations of "european style" handling techniques currently being used in agility today.

I have completed all modules of Dawn Weaver's comprehensive jump skills training programme - Hit the Ground Running, This course opened up a whole new field of expertise for me, as I now have a better understanding of jumping styles, stride patterns and the reasons why some dogs develop jumping technique problems.

Member of Agility Secrets training website, which was my first introduction to on-line training - very comprehensive range of subjects covered, including modules on training running contacts, plus body condition analysis and strength exercise programmes.

I have regularly competed in agility with my own dogs for nearly 10 years.

My youngest dog is currently competing at Kennel Club Grade 6 level.
